Illinois Work Incentive Grants
Client: Illinois Workforce Investment Board
In 2003 and 2004, MSF&W staff served as the chief accessibility and assistive technology consultants for two Department of Labor-funded "Work Incentive Grant" projects implemented by a broad coalition of Illinois agencies and disability advocacy groups.
As part of these projects, MSF&W assisted in the selection and installation of a full compliment of assistive technology software and hardware for use in Illinois "One Stop" Employment Center Resource Rooms. MSF&W's Accessibility Team provided training for key One Stop staff in the use of these assistive technologies with job seekers with disabilities.
MSF&W also developed a fully-accessible Illinois Work Incentive Grant Assistive Technology Support Site as a repository for information about the assistive technologies used in the One Stops. The ILWIG site included an interactive question-and-answer board used to share information with One Stop staff and assistive technology-by-assistive technology ratings of the usability of thirty top job-search related web sites based on audits performed by MSF&W's team.
